Note:
The visual inspection
performed during a chimney evaluation & sweeping may not be enough to
detect thin cracks in the masonry chimney's flue lining, or disconnected
pipes in the prefab chimney's flue.
Cracks are a major potential
hazard since they can expand with high temperatures & no longer insulate
the chimney from transferring heat & gases to combustibles.
Consider having a video inspection performed on the chimney if
there is any question--especially if you have had a chimney fire.
