There are
several "Boiler Room" operations that have sprung up here in San Diego
recently. These telephone solicitors will call you up and say that
they are "YOUR CHIMNEY SWEEP and that it is time to have your chimney
checked." Thanks to the
information provided by some of our many loyal customers, we found out about
these unscrupulous practices being done by one of our competitors.
We
do not think for one minute that it is one of the other Certified Chimney
Sweep companies that you also see listed or advertising online. None
of us have to stoop to this, and all of us run our businesses under a high
code of ethics.

These are unscrupulous
people who are unlicensed, uncertified and uninsured. Always check
credentials through the California State Contractors Licensing Board at
www.cslb.ca.gov
and the Chimney Safety Institute of America at
www.csia.org .
Ask to see proof of general liability insurance. This is for
your protection!

These unscrupulous people
will sell you unnecessary and expensive repairs. Worse yet, they
could turn a safe chimney into an unsafe chimney since they don't know
what they're doing. It's a good idea to check with the Better Business
Bureau at http://sandiego.bbb.org

if you can get their true name and phone number.

If you're on the "Do Not
Call" Registry, it is illegal for anyone to solicit your business over
the phone unless you've done business with that company within the past
18 months. |

and says that they are "your" chimney sweep, please be aware that you have
no idea who is on the other end of that phone.
